Abstract

Our world is becoming increasingly networked: sensors in gas turbines, trains or manufacturing plants collect data, monitor operations, automate functions and optimize processes. Advanced algorithms, more powerful computers, improved connectivity, and cloud storage are fueling the emergence of self-organizing systems.

In order to exploit the diversity of these possibilities and the resulting business opportunities, companies not only need technical expertise, but they must also adapt their processes and corporate culture to the new digital world, for example through new working methods or increased interdisciplinary collaboration. More than ever, this requires a culture of experimentation to discover new things off the beaten track. The presentation will shed light on the fundamental changes that are needed in a wide range of areas to exploit the potential of digitalization.
