Study Introductory Days (SET)

↓ Directly to the programme

At the beginning of each semester, the MPIC Student Council organizes an introductory event for the new freshmen (Bachelor and Master), the Introductory Study Days (SET).

The SET for the summer semester 2026 will take place from Thursday, April 09th to Sunday, April 12th. They will be held in person, without the possibility to participate online.

Additionally, we will offer guided institute tours and bar tours in the week prior.

Registration: You do not need to register for SET in general, but individual events may require registrations due to a capacity limit. If this is the case, it will be posted here on this page, we will update the information regularly.

We have also written an Erstiguide for you. You can find the newer German version here and the English version of the previous year here.

Pub crawls

We are again offering several pub crawls this SET. Get to know your fellow students and the Munich pub scene better at the same time! No registration is needed, just appear at the meeting point! You will recognize us by our red shirts.

The meeting point will be at the Münchner Freiheit underground station, behind the chess garden when leaving from U-Bahn exit B. The routes for the winter semester 25/26 can be found here.

Guided tours of institutes

This year, there will once again be guided tours of various institutes on campus. The institute tours will take place during the week of the 8th April to 10th April. The tours will be led by the institutes themselves. The institute tours have a limited number of participants and therefore require prior registration.

You can register via the Registration-Tool.

Campus Rallye

Get to know your fellow students that you met throughout the last few days even better by participating in a series of challenges! Earn points in weird and wonderful ways, it’ll definitely be something to remember!

The campus rally will take place at 11am. There is no need to sign up in a central location! Simply independently form teams of 4 or 5 people and get going! If you’re looking for a team, come to the place where the breakfast took place, at the Maths/Informatics building.

The first station will ask you for a team name, that will be used to register all the points you earn.

Tutor-Registration

As a SET-tutor, you will help out with the execution of the different SET-event. For exxample, you might guide new students across the campus, help bake pizza or supervise a campus-rallye station.

You can register at our helper’s tool.

If you have any questions about SET tutors, please send us an email at set-tutoren@fs.tum.de.
